Sunday, July 14, 2013 (Day 2)–South Colorado

Left Dodge City at 9:30am this morning. It was very windy this morning. I hit Colorado about 11:30am.

About an hour later I hit a small town that had a Wal-Mart and I got cell service. Stopped for a few things, make a call home, had some lunch, filled the gas tank and headed on. Towards the end of the drive I found mountains.

I drove 354 miles today and I am spending the night at the Oasis Sand Dunes Campground. It is one mile from the entrance of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve (the tallest dunes in North America). Once again this is about the only game in town especially considering that town is 16 miles away. It is in the low 70’s and very, very windy. No cable, no wi-fi, no cell service, no hot spot here.

Elevation here at the RV park is about 8200 ft.
