I left Grayton Beach State Park this morning and drove to Panama City Beach. It is only 34 miles between them. I stopped at Target and had my favorite salad at Panera Bread to kill time. Official check in time is 3:00pm but most of the time if your site is ready they will let you check in early. By 1:30pm I was set up and enjoying my view. It was another beautiful, warm, sunny day here.
Tonight is my 117th night I have spent in my trailer in the two years I have owned it and this is my favorite site I have had. It is a waterfront site in St Andrews State Park in Panama City Beach, FL.
I reserved this site over five months ago and could only get four nights. It helps to have a 17ft trailer. This site can only hold trailers up to 20ft so that rules out a lot of trailers. Cost here after taxes is $31.33 per night. Thankfully this is a dry site. They had flooding here last week and many of the sites still have water standing in them or are very, very muddy. I spent a week here last Feb. and really enjoyed this park. I wanted to come back when it was warmer to be able to fully enjoy it.
When I pulled up to my site there was a heron standing on the rocks to greet me.
I was able to back the trailer in at an angle to so I can sit in my trailer and look out the window and trailer screen door at the water.
I sat in my chair and watched all kind of birds, boats and I even saw dolphins, all from my site!
I went down to walk on the beach at sunset. That water felt pretty cold to me but I saw people swimming. Here is a self-portrait:
I can see why you like this site so much. And that self-portrait looks just like you!
