Monday, May 30, 2016 – Home Again Safely

I hitched up the trailer and left the park about 11:30am.  It was already wayyyy too warm for me by this time.  Any temperature over 75 degrees is too hot for me any more. I wondered through a few stores, had some lunch, filled the car with gas and left Osage Beach.

I stopped at Warsaw at the Truman Dam Visitor Center.  They have a very nice center with a great view of the dam and the lake.  This dam was completed in 1979 so it looks much better than Bagnell.  Truman Lake is the largest man-made lake in Missouri.

I will say one thing that bugged me at the visitor center.  They had all these great historical displays and natural animals of Missouri, etc throughout the center.  Then they had a table display with nautical items, net, etc with plastic lobsters and plastic crabs.  Now really….there are no crabs or lobsters in Truman Lake, why in the world would someone put them out for display in this great center.  I know…I am a nut!

It started raining heavily with wind gusts as I was leaving Warsaw.  Thankfully it let up to light rain as I continued on.  I made it back safely and put the Egg to bed in its parking spot.  Thanks Mom & Dad for letting my Egg live at your house!  Well, technically in your drive.

  1. Glad to hear about your trip. I just got back last night (Friday) from a three-day trip to the Kansas City area with a group from my church. We went to a Royals baseball game (they won), visited the Crown Center, Hallmark Center in Downtown K.C., visited the WWI museum (very interesting), did some shopping at the Legends outlet in Kansas, did more shopping at an area near the hotel where we stayed–had Crate and Barrel, LL Bean, Container Store, Trader Joe’s, other stores. We stayed in the Pear Tree Inn/Drury Inn in Overland Park, Kansas–nice. We ate at the Panera Bread in downtown K.C. on Thursday and had some barbecue at a place in Belton before coming home on Friday. Had good, sunny weather until about the time we got to Clinton on Friday. We’re already talking about taking a similar trip in the future, maybe a longer one.
