The RV park filled up today. It was a lovely, sunny day.
This afternoon I drove about five miles up the road to visit The Royal Gorge Bridge. The bridge is the highest bridge in the US. The bridge is 1260 feet in length and 18 feet wide. The bridge was built in 1929 in six months. In 1980 the bridge was renovated and additional anti-sway cables were added. The floor of the bridge is wood. In 2013 a wildfire destroyed almost all of the park and park buildings, Over the next two years the park was rebuilt.
Adults: $26 / person
Seniors (60+): $23 / person
Children (4-11 yrs): $21 / person
For your entrance fee, you can walk across the bridge as long as you like and ride the gondolas as much as you want.
For an extra $50 you can zipline from one side to the other. For an extra $30 you can ride a skycoaster out over the gorge.
They do have a free playland and carousel for kids. They have several snack/cafe areas and a bar and great patio/viewing area.
You do feel sway on the bridge, I was surprised by the gaps between the wood floor planks, Some were over two inches wide.
Pretty sure my legs would have froze trying to walk across and I would have had to lay down and crawl the rest of the way 😳
