After packing up and leaving Canon City, CO I spent the day driving 360 miles. The first part of the day on Highway 50 was lovely, the highway runs right next to the Arkansas river. Eventually you begin to climb until you reach 11,312 feet at the top of Monarch Pass. There was light snow on the mountain top.
I arrived in Moab, UT about 6:00pm. I checked in to Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground. It is located in the middle of Moab.
There are over 20 rv parks/campgrounds in the Moab area. In addition to being located right in the middle of town, it is one of the few that has mature shade trees. So you pay for those conveniences with your pocketbook and in the size of the sites. I have never seen such small sites. So for my electric/water/wifi/cable site I am paying $54 per night. You do get two free cookies when you check in.
At the office I asked for a restaurant referral so I went down to Pasta Jay’s and had a delicious dinner. It was perfect weather for eating on the patio. Many of the restaurants here have patio seating.
