Left home this morning for a summer, lovely warm drive to Eureka Springs, AR. I had a reservation at Lake Leatherwood City Park. I arrived in the afternoon and the site was unacceptable and you had to drive up a steep, loose rock hill with a wash out ditch in the middle. I barely made it back up the hill with the camper.
They were nice and refunded my money.
I moved on down the road to Kettle Campground. I really don’t like this campground either but it is way better than Lake Leatherwood. The sites here are just jammed in everywhere too close together. I am next to a permanent resident with too much stuff. The electric box is only a foot off the ground. My water hook up was in the neighbors site and she already had a hose hooked to it to water her plants. The sewer hook up pipe is uncapped with a board and a rock on it.
After setting up I met up with the ladies from Camp Unite – Zone 11 (MO & AR) for the first women only camping event for this new organization. There were 20 women there. It was interesting to meet them.
It was a diverse group. From retired ladies to a prosecutor. Their camping experiences were just as diverse from well traveled to some tent campers. The rigs were just as diverse. Tents, vans, a camper configured utility trailer, a camper configured panel van, an Aliner and a renovated vintage trailer. A few stayed in rental cabins as well. I would guess the ages would be 50 and up. Several were from the Hot Springs, AR area. Several were from the St. Louis area.
